A ski holiday is your ticket to a winter wonderland of excitement. Imagine flying out to the mountains of Europe, Canada or the USA, travelling to a picturesque ski resort, and conquering the perfectly groomed slopes on skis or a snowboard. A ski holiday package usually includes flights from a UK airport, transfers by road between the airport and ski resort, and comfy accommodation - either a catered chalet, self-catered apartment or hotel. You'll also need to gear-up with ski essentials - a lift pass so you can ride up the mountains on chairlifts, gondolas and cable cars, and skiing or snowboarding equipment so you can slide down again! Most resorts have more than just skiing though - activities such as ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, rock climbing are commonplace. Then in the evening it's all about après-ski entertainment and sampling the delicious cuisine of your mountain destination. Whether you're new to the slopes or a seasoned pro – there's something for everyone on a ski holiday (including lessons for all abilities). So grab your crew, your family, or just your love for adventure and embark on a snowy adventure you'll never forget.

We love to go all out at Christmas in our chalets, with updated Christmas menus every season, always with added special extras to help you enjoy the festivities. It's the quintessential family ski holiday.
There really is no better time to get away for a ski holiday than when the snow is good and the parties are the best of the season! Whether you opt for catered, self-catered or hotel accommodation, New Year will blow your ski socks off!
Avoid busy airports and take as much luggage as you can fit in your vehicle! Ideal for families and groups staying in a self-catered chalet or apartment.
You can even use your vehicle to ski in other nearby resorts that may be included on your lift pass.
That all depends on you! Going for Christmas or New Years can make for a magical experience. You get the most snow in February and early to mid March (and the prices reflect this) and there is often another huge snowfall right at the end of the season in April. And if you go in April (many high resorts don’t close until the end of the month) you can easily end up skiing in just a t-shirt! This is the time to enjoy the longer days and find yourself on terrace of a wonderful mountain restaurant listening to great music whilst enjoying the breath-taking views. You may find it hard to drag yourself back home!
We have a wide range of chalets, hotels and apartments. In each category there’s budget and luxury options – and everything in between - with different amenities and locations and locations. Don’t forget when looking at prices, a catered chalet includes evening 3 or 4 course menus accompanied by wine as well as breakfast – so this can be great value. Think about what three things are most important to you and let our knowledgeable team take the pressure off by giving you some options to choose between.
That really depends on the resort itself, snow condition, time of the season and traffic overall. The majority of the resorts we offer are the most snowsure in Europe. That means you generally need to drive higher up the mountain to get to them. Naturally traffic on the weekend can be heavier with other keen skiers both local and from further afield – especially after a fresh snowfall! That is why we fly into your destination airport so early – we have the best chance of NOT getting seriously caught up in all this. With our experience, in France we’ve found Grenoble airport offers the best compromise between distance and reliability as the weather patterns around Chambery frequently stop planes actually landing!
Snow-sure ski resorts are the resorts most likely to be blanketed with snow throughout the season – usually due to their altitude as well as the orientation of their slopes. Resorts such as Val Thorens (the highest in Europe) will be open from early December to May sometimes. Tignes is similar as it has a glacier. Your ski holiday is as important to us as it is to you so we chose these resorts to make sure you can hit the slopes with confidence – anytime in the ski season.
You can pre-book a lift pass with your Skiworld holiday booking and we’ll deliver it to your accommodation or give it to you on the transfer coach on the way to the resort when you arrive. At some of our smaller resorts you may still have to go pick it up from the lift pass office at the base of the mountain, but you’ll have a voucher from us to hand over in exchange for your passes - zero fuss!
At most of our resorts we offer four levels, Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum. Never underestimate the difference good boots and skis make, so if you’re experienced it’s worth the extra. If you’re just a beginner you’re likely to grow out of the bronze after a day or two, so we’d suggest silver as the minimum. Check out our ski and snowboard equipment advice.
That’s when out charter flights and coach transfers are organised, which works to keep the cost down and hopefully leave you with more spending money for your holiday. With our tailor-made holidays such as to Canada and the USA, you can depart on whichever day you want to – subject to availability. And remember that in the high snowsure resorts it is harder to do short breaks or to arrive and depart on anything other than a weekend. Watch this space though, as we’re working to give you more flexibility in the future.
For any scheduled flight, or charter with Jet2 or Easyjet you would check in as normal. The reference to use can be found in the documents in the Manage my Booking section of our website which you'll get access to after making a booking. For our BA charter flights there’s no online option, just bring your passport to the desk at the airport.
If you’re lucky enough to have your own skis, make sure to book ski carriage with us in advance. As for boots, most people will take them as hand luggage – but check with us first as some airlines now don’t allow this. Most squeeze them in your suitcase as that works too.
We do have an emergency helpline at Skiworld HQ for the day of your departure. If staying in one of our catered chalets or in a resort where we have a team of staff, you can speak to your chalet host or resort manager. Our local teams are always best positioned to respond quickly. There will be emergency contact information listed in your holiday itinerary if you're travelling to a destination where Skiworld don't have a team in place.
