We all love being in the mountains, but unfortunately this precious eco-system is under threat from the ever-increasing strains we are inflicting on the environment. Global warming, changing weather systems and increased travel and tourism are slowly taking their toll on this enchanting landscape
Skiworld takes its responsibility to the mountains seriously and it is for this reason that we have implemented a number or practices to minimise our impact on the alpine environment and the world in general.
We’re pleased to announce that for this season all French and Austrian properties will benefit from the addition of Eco Label products for ski chalets and ski hotels. The selection of products is designed to reduce our impact on the environment which includes toilet gel, window cleaner and multi-surface cleaners which conform to the EU Eco-Label rating. This means that products are manufactured from organic matter, generate no harmful bi-products and all products are 100% biodegradable. They also offer the same efficiency levels as leading brands and are manufactured in an environmentally friendly manner, including their packaging which is fully recyclable. Should you wish to find out more about the Eco Label Scheme, please click here.
We are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint as a company and are proud to be a paperless operator, meaning we use paperless technology and e-ticketing to conduct our business and all our holidays to reduce waste. Everything possible is recycled both in resort and in our offices and we encourage our guests to help us in this respect. This includes protecting the mountain environment by disposing of litter properly and being aware of their own impact on alpine flora and fauna.
Of course, one of the biggest pollutants associated with our business is the transport services we operate, however in this field too we take all possible measures to be green. We only use new planes with high load factors for chartered flights and we make use of scheduled flights where appropriate. We keep in-resort vehicles to a minimum and choose more environmentally friendly models wherever possible. Even our office staff do their bit by cycling to work where feasible or taking public transport if necessary.
Climate Care is a service that helps individuals and organisations to repair the damage they do to the climate. Through its award-winning sustainable energy projects Climate Care will reduce pollution (CO2) on your behalf, to offset your own contribution to Climate Change. As an environmentally conscious tour operator, Skiworld are working with Climate Care to offer our customers the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions created during your journey to and from resort.
Just enter your departure and arrival airports into the calculator to calculate the amount of CO2 emissions created by your flight. You will be also given an estimate of the cost of offsetting these emissions through a donation to climate care's portfolio of green energy projects.
