If you’re looking for a ski holiday to the 4 Valleys in Switzerland you’re guaranteed not to be disappointed. Dominated by the world famous resort of Verbier and featuring equally good skiing in Nendaz, Thyon and Veysonnaz – the ski area features 410km of superlative skiing and riding from 1,250m right up to the summit of Mont Fort at 3,330m.
Accommodation is varied across the ski area, meaning there’s an option to suit all budgets. Additionally, each ski area has its own qualities to explore – which may take some time – so you can upgrade to a full area pass just for the odd day if you wish.
Dining and après both on and off the mountain is in itself a reason to visit the 4 valleys. With options such as La Vache, Chalet Novelly, Chalet Carslberg and the Igloo on the summit of Mont Fort there is variety, uniqueness, charm and quality wherever you look.
Touted as one of the best resorts for families in the Alps, and a recipient of a ‘Familes Welcome’ seal of approval, Nendaz offers great skiing for kids and beginners in an exclusive beginner’s zone at the top of the gondola, rather than the bottom. There’s also a sledding hill in the village and free bus access to the 4 Valleys hub at Siviez where you can start to strike out into the vast ski area.
For freeriders and thrill seekers, a ski holiday to Nendaz is a great way to get into some of wildest skiing in the Alps. The 4 Valleys feature a number of ‘Freeride Routes’; a network of un-pisted off piste runs with lift access – as close to true backcountry as you can get with the safety of knowing you can’t get lost!
‘Quality’ is the name of the game in the 4 Valleys and Nendaz is no different. There’s a rich variety of restaurants serving both local cuisine (fondue!) as well as other Alpine classics, the Swiss wine and Belgian beer menus at Edelweiss, the craft brewery Altitude 3330 and the unique dining experience at La Lanterne to name a few.
Last and by no means least, the chalets – Altair and Rosablanche which are breathtaking to say the least. See for yourself…
