In the shadow of Mt Valluga which summits at 2,811m is the epic ski area known as The Arlberg. Encompassing St Anton, Lech, Stuben, St Christoph, Sonnenkopf, Zürs and Zug the Arlberg is the largest ski area in Austria, offering 305km of interconnected runs. The sheer acreage of the area is what’s most impressive, with each ski day seemingly offering an entirely new adventure to a different destination full of unique skiing experiences.
Depending on your constitution, the Arlberg offers guests an incredibly rich and varied ski holiday. From après-heavy dancing-on-tables-in-your-ski-boots-all-night fun, to the more refined sipping of an Aperol Spritz on a sun deck taking in the views. The Royal family have often spent their ski holidays in Lech… Recommendations don’t come much better.

St Anton
The Mooserwirt and the Krazy Kanguruh are among the most famous après bars in the world and any visit to St Anton is simply not complete without a visit to one or the other. Or both!
If the Arlberg is ‘the cradle of alpine skiing’, then St Anton is the golden child. It’s the largest single ski area and features some of the finest skiing in all conditions, with all compass aspects covered, all season long.
Skiing from the top of the Valluga, where you can see to 5 countries, is awe inspiring. You don’t have to ski down from the top, but seeing as St Anton is a mecca for expert skiers it’s something to set your sights on one day!

Lech
Lech has carved out its own niche in the Arlberg despite the reputation of St Anton just down the road. As a winter playground for the rich and famous you can expect class and quality from every aspect of your visit; morning coffee, the best ski lifts, ski schools par excellence, wonderful accommodation and fine dining.
The ski runs are on the whole a little less intimidating than St Anton, and often a lot quieter too. You can enjoy an epic day of cruising red and blue runs, lunching like royalty in one of many mountain restaurants before skiing back to town to sample the famous Austrian après ski.
