If you're reading this then you might be thinking about getting into the ski industry, or taking your ski knowledge and experience to the next level with a career in travel...
You may have come to the end of your ski-season lifestyle and are looking for a new challenge - a new career - something more than just a job... An opportunity to use your skills and knowledge in an environment where people share your passion for the mountains.
Run by skiers, for skiers
This is our motto and we really believe it! As a dedicated ski specialist, we also practice what we preach. In our London office alone we have over 100 years of combined ski season experience - that kind of knowledge and shared appeal is rare to find. Everyone that we bring into our company shares this ethos and passion, maybe it’s why we've been around for so long...
In 2022, Skiworld chalked up 40 years since it was founded in 1982. For a company like this – fiercely independent and committed to its core values – to be able to celebrate such a landmark is testament to the dedication of its most valuable asset; the staff.
We are always looking for passionate and driven individuals to join the team and keep the journey going, for many more years to come.
Where you work is very important. Our head office is nestled in the leafy suburb of Turnham Green, West London, surrounded by independent cafes, eateries and boutique shops making it a great location to wander around during your breaks from work.
Also, being just a stone’s throw from the District Line means the bright lights of the central London are only minutes away. Our office is in a converted warehouse in a quiet mews which makes it a light and spacious environment to work in. Not your typical soulless, stuffy office.
However, in the new hybrid world, there is the option to strike a balance between the office and home if you wish.
If what we have already said does not sound tempting enough we also have a few things that sweeten the deal. Every year we run a number of educational trips, where our staff have the opportunity to go and visit our chalets and accommodations in Europe, or even travel a little further to see our incredible resorts in the USA and Canada.
Because we run the properties ourselves, we are able to offer all staff that work for Skiworld huge holiday discounts! Which increase the longer you work for us. But we don't just keep these savings to ourselves... we share the love. Alongside receiving staff holiday discounts, we also offer our friends and families discounts as well.
You can also take advantage of the cycle to work scheme, if you fancy yourself as the next Chris Froome, or just want to get fit and save some money on the commute. This is just a taste of the extras and incentives offered. All departments will have their own special enticements, to say thank you and ensure the company is a group of friends, not just colleagues.
With 40 years of experience within the industry we've picked up a few friends along the way. This includes the relationships we have built with our overseas resorts in Europe, America and Canada, who regularly come and visit us to show us what they offer, and industry partnerships. And of course, friends help each other out, meaning we enjoy some juicy industry discounts. For example, reduced rates for the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Show and money off some of the biggest and best ski brands.
That being said it’s not all about us. We also give back. We are officially affiliated with the most amazing charity - Snowcamp, who give inter-city children real life opportunities and prospects though snow sports. Every year we not only raise thousands of pounds to support the charity, but we also take on a Snowcamp apprentice who comes to work with us at Skiworld HQ as part of the programme.
A lot of places claim to have a social and friendly atmosphere. Here at Skiworld we take it to next level! We have a dedicated social committee who organise monthly socials. Be that BBQs, outdoor cinemas or meet-ups with some of our travel agent partners. Our Christmas parties are always something to remember (fancy dress essential of course). During our Company Week in June we review our season with a selection of presentations and the Directors lay on some fun activities in the evenings such as rowing on the Thames, brewery tours, a cocktail making class, wine and cheese pairing nights, amongst others.
Being the largest independent ski operator also has its benefits. Because we aren't corporately owned we have the ability to be as flexible and agile as we need to be to stay ahead of the ever-changing marketplace. We are however big enough that everyone who works for us has the range and diversity to keep them engaged and challenged constantly. We really feel that everyone has an equal input in making our business so successful. We are all part of the "Skiworld Family".
Some say save the best until last… well we agree. Every year we plan a trip and the take whole London office out to the Alps for a few days of skiing and socialising. To celebrate the end of the season. Not only is this an amazing and fun experience it is also a great opportunity for the London staff to see first-hand what we live and breathe, as well as meet our overseas teams.
We really are a company that is 'Made in the Mountains' and we are so proud of that.
