The Skiing
St Anton skiing offers gentle nursery slopes at the mountain base, especially in the Nasserein and Gampen areas, quickly ascending to challenging peaks at Schindler and Valluga. Warm up your ski legs on the blues from the Ostang chair or the Plattiwald trail from the Gampen lift, while the Nasserein and Rendl sides provide lovely pistes to practice on. Cautious intermediates will appreciate the quieter Rendl “beach” and classic reds and blacks accessed via the Galzigbahn, with the longest run being the 10.2km descent from Valluga.
Advanced skiers should tackle the number 34 piste from Kapall to Mattun and the number 3 under the Galzig. Schindler and Valluga offer accessible off-piste itineraries, and Stuben is perfect for powder skiing. The north face of Valluga presents a seriously steep challenge. But the real selling point of the Arlberg ski areas are the day-long 'itineraries' which take you from village to village via amazingly picturesque pistes!
